This work is an excellent guide to help in the development of a conversational relationship with God.  The author describes ways of discerning when God is talking back to you.  The epilogue is worth the price of the book.

"Face to Face." (volume one) - Kenneth Boa

Except for the Scriptures, the most used book in my library.  This is a most for those young and old in the faith.  Boa provides 3 months of daily prayers using Scripture.  Buy volume one.  Volume two is interesting but not as useful.

"A Call to Spiritual Reformation:  Priorities from Paul and His Prayers" - D.A. Carson

Carson, a premier theologian, plumbs the depths of Pauline prayer and leads the reader into their own use of what Paul has provided.

"Experiencing the Depths of Jesus" - Jeanne Guyon

Here is the deep water.  Guyon, a French Roman Catholic mystic, leads those seeking the deeper prayer life into its depths.  She is difficult to read a few chapters in, due to the necessity of spiritual maturity for understanding.  Intervals for a time off from the book makes the book a spiritual journey.  By the way, I found this book online under another name:  "A Short and Easy Method of Prayer."
