Facing Our Flight to Pella - Luke 21:20-38

Luke devotes an entire chapter to Jesus’ teaching on prophetic signs and events before His second coming during the last days of His earthly life. Today our second half of “the Olivet Discourse” comes on the heels of Jesus’ shocking disclosure to the disciples that the Temple would soon be reduced to the rubble from which it was made. The prophecies of signs and wonders that followed fulfill Luke’s ultimate purpose of steadying the sometimes wobbly faith of the God-lover in the face of Christ’s crucifixion, their persecution, and their possible martyrdom (cf. Luke 1:4).
