Facing Your Future - Luke 17:22-37
In response to a Pharisee’s question, Jesus skillfully teaches on the Kingdom’s in-breaking and His second coming. The Kingdom of God, according to Jesus, has been ever-present as evinced by His works in their midst; however, it is only seen from the inside out, not by some dramatic, sudden appearance of the Messianic rule. Jesus’ account truly tests the believers’ faith in things unseen. It follows well from the fabric of faith and redemption taught in the previous parables (e.g. the lost coin, the Prodigal Son, the unrighteous steward, the rich man, and the mustard seed). Once again, Luke fulfills the purpose of his Gospel: to steady the God-lover’s wobbly faith by revealing where the Kingdom of God is truly found and how it appears to the world.
