Led into the Path of Glory - Hebrews 2:10-13
The deity of Jesus was asserted in the exordium of Hebrews which introduced His pre-eminence over all creation. Discussions addressing Jesus’ immutability and royal sovereignty were also presented in a catena that further asserted His superiority. An excursus followed revealing His superiority over any kind of mediators, such as angels, and then showing His superiority as God’s ultimate high priest. These all call the reader to remain faithful to Jesus and avoid apostasy. This is as necessary for us who are prone to drift, as it was for fledglings in the Christian faith of that time who were wooed by the pomp and ritual of the culture that surrounded them. The book calls the reader to cast off any weight or entangling sin and to fix our eyes upon Jesus, who initiated our faith (cf. Hebrews 12:1-3).
